My ELLE - 3D Customisation Tool
'My ELLE' is a 3D customisation tool, which enables customers to create and order their unique rings. The design includes three different jewelry customisation processes for different types of rings.
I worked on this project when I was working for JeanLilly Consulting. I was responsible for UX research, UX &UI design, and contributed to designing the design system.

Marketing Research
With the rapid growth of e-commerce, online shopping and self-service payment have become common, but luxury jewelry customisation lags behind. Few online customisation tools exist, making offline customisation dominant in the current market. However, high costs in luxury malls make offline customisation way more expensive than the online option.
Customisation for Different Products
An SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is the smallest inventory unit, a unique identifier for efficient tracking. An SKU may denote size, color, or style, while in chain stores, a product is an SKU.
Jewelry may have one or multiple SKUs. For example, a silver plain ring has one SKU (ring color), and a multi-stone diamond ring has multiple SKUs (ring color, diamonds color).

Moderate Personalisation
Moderate personalized products have multiple SKUs, like a ring setting and a diamond. Users can browse the product information, then personalize by picking three alternate ring settings and diamonds and viewing a 3D model to compare different combinations.
In the diamond selection page, users can filter diamonds based on various attributes such as price, diamond weight, and shape.

Full Personalisation of Single-SKU Product
A single-SKU product is a whole product not a combination of many products, which means users can not change its format. For the full personalisation of the single-SKU products, users can personalise them directly without selecting any SKU first.
For example, to personalise a single-SKU diamond ring, the user can start personalising without choosing the format/shape of the diamonds and the ring setting. They need to select the engraved position of the diamond first and then select the diamond. During personalisation process, users can check the 3D model of the product at any time to compare different combinations.

Diamond Engraving
The letter engraving service allows users to engrave personalised letters in three different positions. Users can select the engraving position, enter any text, and then view the 3D model of the product.

Full Personalisation of Multi-SKU Product
A single diamond ring consists of two SKUs: a ring setting and a diamond. For the full personalisation of multi-SKU products, users need to select and personalise different SKUs separately.
For example, to personalise a single stone diamond ring, the user needs to select and personalise both the diamond and the ring setting. During personalisation process, users can check the 3D model of the product at any time to compare different combinations.
The 3D model of the product can be rotated to show different angles on the personalisation page. There is no sequence of properties. Users can choose any properties to personalise and save drafts at any time.

Outcome
In a limited time, I designed the personalisation user flow of three different kinds of products, and designed the related hi-fidelity user interfaces, providing a strong foundation and design templates for future iterations.

What I learned
Through this project, I improved my research and design skills. I learned how to research and analyze unfamiliar fields independently. I also improved my design skills of complex interaction and completed low-fidelity and high-fidelity design.
Besides, I also improved my communication skills. I not only need to discuss the logic of the design pages and how to improve the user experience with a senior designer and a product manager but also need to provide design support to the development team.
In the end, I would like to thank everyone who helped me with this project.
